High-Lows

Photobucket
  • Terrible week at work. But never mind because it's the weekends, and it's over. Tough times don't last, tough people do. Remember that, Michelle.
  • Looking forward to a mini August getaway (hopefully!) with ML. Shall go do extensive research on the best hotels and flight prices. Now, where did all my cash go?
  • My complexion is disgusting. Hopefully after this stupid emotional period of mine ends, it'll go back to normal.
  • Had this amazing BBQ crab at Whampoa hawker centre a couple of days ago. I vant moar.
  • Uni application is once again bothering me. I have no idea where to start but I know that I've got to start somewhere or in one year's time, Jotham and I are going to stare at each other in horror with nowhere to go.
  • After watching this video of Adam Levine in a boxing ring, I'm convinced he has to be my future husband. Ok now watch this, this man knows how to rock a suit and that weird gold glasses. Why is he so sexaaaaaaaay~
  • Re-reading what I wrote above, I conclude I might be bi-polar or just insane.

Another milestone

Look who is now a full-fleged 3sgt!!!! I am fully aware that all these pictures are either him or us both in various poses and angles but basically doing the same thing but I don't care because I think Jotham is damn cute. Oh wow I did not just type that hahahaha! I particularly like the second photo where he is trying to keep a stern look but obviously failing and smiling to himself. And LOL the malay dude beside him giving him the eye. Anw am so proud; that's my boy!

Extremely lazy week

Photobucket Photobucket
Three days in Bangkok (courtesy of Holiday Inn Express Bangkok Siam) passed in a blur. Anxiety of my first solo plane ride, navigating the airport, media briefings, making friends with Indo journalists, Thai foot massage, Jim Thompson house tour, saw a man cook cocoons in a boiling pot to retrieve the silk (picture above), shopping, more media briefings, hotel launch dinner, failing to appreciate cocktails, Chang beer overload, getting pissed at BKK's crazy weather, trying out the BTS skytrain, eating street food, buying loads of $4 shades, desperate squeezing food and buys into my tiny luggage, navigating the airport again, made friends with a Canadian editor, arrived in Singapore to see my super sweet brother waiting outside, dinner with the family, crawled into bed and collapsed.

It's so tough being a working adult. Even when you're on "holiday" (technically, it wasn't a real holiday I was with strangers and pr people), you're constantly thinking about work. Obsessively checking your email whenever you get wifi connection. I fear I might be turning into one of the soul-less adults. Ironically, someone on the trip laughed and jokingly commented that it's good to be young and fearless when I was prowling the street and buying almost every kind of street food (some dubious ones, too) and trying. I reckon it's best to try everything now before I get too scared and fearful to try anything at all.

An hour to go

Photobucket
Before leaving for my flight to Bangkok! First ever press trip and first ever solo plane ride. I'm all sorts of nervous and excited! Hopefully I'll find time to meet up with Eme & co. in bkk, that would be fun. K I'll update more on Wed. Adios.

Coffee Days

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket
Last weekend was kickass. Ventured to the new croissant place at Tiong Bahru with ML and talked about life as usual. Finally went to church for service after what felt like ages... this I am ashamed but I'm working to change that. Impromtu dinner with Jh in town. Shopped and bought a $100 floral pants (Wth was I thinking? Luckily it's gorgeous but still... $100?!) then tea party with Cal and co. laughing and drinking tea before I had to fly to Jotham's house. Went to the airport at 2am, waited for the boy and reached home only about 4 or 5 and after a few brief moments of cuddling, our body gave up and we collapsed on the bed. Woke up to more cuddling and nua-ing like our usual sloth selves, shopped in the late afternoon again, failed attempt to catch a movie because everything was sold out. Sushi and pasta dinner at home over a dvd before sleeptime. This is probably definitely the most time I've spent with J the past month! Only 1 day but good enough.

*Edited: Also, I bought J the new John Mayer cd as a welcome home gift. Sleep-deprived (and slightly delirious) him was unwrapping it and going like, "Is this John Mayer? Is it? Is it? What is it?" and I casually mentioned "No, I made you a mixtape." He actually went "Oh. *sad face*" and when he saw it, he squealed in excitement. Therefore, I now know, John Mayer > my mixtape.

Best news of the week is that I'm going to Bangkok next Mon to Wed for a press trip. Hopefully I'll get to explore the place a little (highly doubt I'll get to shop) and come back with a trillion pictures! In the meantime, I've got loads of work to do and 2 birthday presents to buy this week.

Ninja Warrior

To say my bro is more adventurous than me is an understatement. He got one of the three red flags (out of eight other people) and I'm crossing my fingers that he get called to advance into the next round! It would be so cool to see him on tv hehe. My mom will probably record it and replay it again and again just for laughs.

The Dark Lord shall rise again

Highlight of my week was visiting the Artscience Museum at Marina Bay Sands for the Harry Potter the exhibition media preview. One of the perks of working for a magazine. And surprisingly, we got to meet the Weasley twins who were really charming (and hot, hehe). I was "photographer" and I stupidly wore a short dress.

I took almost 400 pictures that morning (um, but public can't take pictures, I'm sorry) and I've picked a couple to show here. Not going to spoil it for everyone but it's really, really cool. There's a shop at the end of the exhibition (that feels like Diagon Alley) where you can get Harry Potter memorabilia. Of course, everything is kinda pricey, even a small box of Bertie Bott's every flavour beans cost $6. I'm dying for the timeturner necklace ($120)!

Ok that's all, I'll be blogging the rest of the pictures/experience at the magazine's blog here on Monday!
